Canonicalized — “Mittelmeer” and “Mediterranean” match the same sailings.

Ignored when a departure date bound is set — an explicit bound always wins.

Filters the suggestion list, not the query.

Matched on the normalized name — “Volendam” finds “ms Volendam”.

Restricts results to sailings the line quoted in that currency. Prices are never rewritten — this filters, it does not convert.

Pick a currency to compare like with like — the bound is converted at the ECB reference rate, and quoted prices stay exactly as the line published them. It applies to the per-night range below too.

The lead-in fare over the sailing's length — how value compares across trip lengths, which a bound on the total fare cannot express. Sailings with no fare or no length carry no per-night figure and drop out of either bound.

A small share of upcoming sailings carry no price, and they cluster. A price bound drops them silently; this says so explicitly.

“This sailing sells a balcony”, not “its lead-in price is a balcony”.

Collapse keeps one row per sailing (first-party source wins).

The freshness filter. Roughly a quarter of the catalogue is a frozen legacy import; this is how to exclude it deliberately.

Only part of the catalogue carries one — expect a smaller result set.

Per night is the value ordering across lengths, and it is not reachable from the price sorts — a longer sailing can cost more in total and less per night. Pin a currency before reading either as a ranking.
